Commission: Larisa 2

Really, really hard!

I'd really like to use my blog to feel like a lion , say " oh! , I made this work, good vision " as many do .
However , like to spend a bit of time to tell the story of each illustration that I do.
I confess that this made me swear a couple of times. The time taken compared to the earlier work was double , because I wanted to do some tests.
Most important of all , the first color without  photo reference ! without the fucking poser . I spent many more hours , but after five years of 3D program maybe something I learned on the volumes of the body. I hope it's the first of many " hits" , but don't bet on it ! ( we will see with different light sources . ) .
Another test, to color background with a different brush from soft .
I used the brush that i showed you in the previous post . Is is a sort of digital painting and I hope not to repeat an experience like that. It ' was really difficult , long, exhausting and boring.
But I wanted to try because this brush is perfect for coloring rocks.
For the pose I used two photo references :
- for the hands
- for the posture of the body.
It ' was a defeat for me, but a similar pose without reference would have lost naturalness. :(

Veramente, veramente difficile!

Color study: two different brushes

A few posts ago, I was talking about a new brush that I tried to use . A sort of gradient brush / square / flat, that which gives a wonderful effect "digital painting ." It ' was a test , a study , but usually i use another brush, this is standard in photoshop , completely soft.
Here's an example : The first draw was done with the "new" brush , the second with the usual brush (soft).
The effects are very different and I could not choose the best. But the problem is not so much the brush , is the photo reference that helps with the source of light and volumes.

As you can see , both colors are nice, but the credit goes primarily to the photos from which I copied tones and volumes. How can you get such a result if you haven't the right references? When you do a commission , for example . You can't find the exact photo reference on the web. I usually use poser ( as I have already explained ), but more I look at photos, and more 3d program offers me so rigid shadows, like wood, which doesn't give this beautiful effect to my work. If use both brushes on a light source / volume created with poser , the result would not be so pleasant (I did some tests that will  not show ever !) .

I'm in the shit ! What should I do ?
